Off Guard
Off-Guard: to be taken by surprise; to be caught when one is vulnerable, careless or inattentive.
Have you ever been walking down the sidewalk, either alone or with a friend, and maybe you’re listening to music if you’re by yourself or you’re having a conversation and looking around at the scenery where you’re walking and all of a sudden you find yourself flat on your face? There was a crack in the sidewalk, or maybe a tree root sticking up or something that caught the toe of your shoe and you went down.
Some sins trip us up just like that. We know about “the big” sins and we keep our eyes open to battle them, but what about some of the sins that “sneak in” and catch us off guard?
In this series we’ll take a look at some of these sins and consider what God has to say to us to help us keep our guard up against them.
Back to School 2017
We can go through life thinking our identity is tied to what we do……or worse, tied to what we’ve done. However, Pastor Cory reminds us that our true identity is not in what you look like or what you do, but in who or what you belong to.
LifePoint Family Summer
We’re all different, but one thing we have in common is the fact that we have a family. Maybe your family is big, maybe it’s small. Maybe you have a great family, maybe a “not-so-great” family. Maybe your family is healthy, maybe your family, well, needs a bit of help.
LifePoint Family Summer is all about helping your family become the family God wants it to be. This series discusses marriage, husbands, wives, children, sex and even more elements related to family life.
Can You See Him?
You’ve probably heard the phrase, “Don’t blink, or you’ll miss it.” Yet, it happens all the time whether we blink or not – especially with God.
Seeing a sunrise or sunset is encouraging and comforting. Seeing flowers is uplifting. Seeing friends is exciting. But seeing what God is up to can, literally, be life changing.
If we miss seeing a lunar eclipse because of clouds, that’s not such a big deal…..but what if we miss God because we let things get in the way of seeing what He’s up to?
Daily life usually sets us on a path that can become repetitive and maybe even boring, and we forget to see God in all things – the good, the tragic, or even the mundane. Think of your day today. Did you see Him in your kids’ laughter, the homeless person on the corner, or even the papers you stapled? He was there. Join us as we take a journey to discover how to see God in everything.
Stepping Up
What if Moses had said, “No” to God? Perhaps the people of Israel would have been slaves in Egypt for many more years. What if Solomon had said, “No” when God asked him to build the temple? Perhaps the people if Israel would have continued to worship in a tent for many more years. What if the Apostle Paul had said, “No” when Jesus showed up and asked him to take the Gospel to the Jewish people? What if Daniel and Shadrach and Meshach and Abednego had all compromised? We could go through a litany of names with similar questions. The thing is, each one of these individuals stepped up when God asked.
Will you?
Stepping Up is about more than saying, “I’ll think about it.” It’s about accepting God’s invitation and going all in……and when that happens, the results are limitless!
