We are just days away from the start of Be Rich ‘26.
LifePoint is always looking for ways to make a difference in people’s lives, in our community and in South Central Iowa and we do that throughout the year. But if you’ve been around LifePoint for awhile, you know that Be Rich is one of my favorite times of the year because we take 5 weeks and bring an intense focus to following Jesus’ final command to love others as He loved us.
Be Rich stems from something the Apostle Paul wrote to his young protoge, Timothy. He wrote:
Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. (1 Timothy 6:17 & 18, NIV)
If you’re somewhat new to LifePoint and Be Rich is new to you, let me give you a peek at what we’ve been up to over the past 15 years. In the past 15 years of Be Rich you have given:
2,846 Christmas Child Shoe Boxes
22,419 pounds of food
$193,519.82 in financial gifts to those in need and to support organizations making a difference in our area
Last year we added a ham and turkey giveaway that was phenomenal. All of this happened, not because we were looking for something to do, but because we wanted to be obedient to Jesus’ command to love God with all our hearts and love our neighbor as ourselves. Or, to put it another way, we wanted to:
Love God
Love People
We’ll be doing all of this again, starting Sunday and I don’t want you to miss a single moment of it!
This Sunday we will have shoe boxes ready for you to pick up. In the past, some of you have asked for unfolded boxes to take home and fold yourself (easier to get more of them in the car that way). If would like unfolded boxes, just reply to this email and let me know.
Once again this year we are supporting 2 food pantries. We are planning to have the food boxes in the lobby on Sunday, so if you want to get a head start on bringing food, go for it!!!
I’ll be preaching a Be Rich message and sharing our 2026 goals……they’re pretty ambitious, but we serve a great big God!!!!
