Forgotten Virtues
Most of us have heard someone say, “I remember that things were a lot different when I was growing up.” Perhaps you’ve said those things yourself. It seems that many virtues are being removed from our western culture. Things like honor, purity, loyalty, integrity and several others seem to be in somewhat short supply….but they don’t have to be.
Just because our culture has begun turning away from these things doesn’t mean that God has begun to turn away, nor that we should turn away. So we’re going to spend a few weeks talking about some of these virtues so that we can begin 2021 with forward motion in the right direction.
Like Never Before
How do we start a new year after the year we had in 2020? It was crazy. It was weird. It was challenging, and in some cases, it was painful. So do we forget 2020, or at least, try to? Do we ignore it? How do we respond? “Normal” people might enter into the new year with hearts filled with fear. This message suggests a better way. It suggests that we lean into God Like Never Before.
Come to Worship
Most of us know the story of Christmas……how Jesus, the Son of God left Heaven and came to earth. Christmas is the story of His birth and all of the miraculous events surrounding His arrival. Everything changed in a moment. When Jesus was born, He gave us the chance to be known, accepted, and forgiven. When we experience His love, we, like the wise men, can’t help but Come to Worship. In this series we’re going to learn some different ways to worship God, ways that will give you more “tools” to express your love to God and worship His Son.
A Way of Escape
Ever been tempted? Of course you have. We all have! So what did you do? Did you give in? Did you fight it, only to lose the battle? Or were you able to stand strong and resist……..this time? Temptation is that seductive little voice that twists what you want into what you need. It distorts your thoughts until you’re trapped – and when you’re trapped by temptation, it’s not the time to listen to yourself. We’re all tempted, but it’s how we respond to that temptation that makes all the difference. This series, A Way of Escape, will give you some tools to be able to stand against temptation with God’s help.
Dangerous Prayers
It’s easy to pray the prayers we’re familiar with, the prayers we’re comfortable with. We’re all familiar with the, “God give me, God bless me, God help me, God strengthen me,” kinds of prayers. There’s nothing wrong with those. But what if we were to take prayer to a new level……to a dangerous level? What about the prayers that put us on the spot more than they put God on the spot? Don’t know what those prayers might be? Then don’t miss this series.
