Hearing God
In the 22nd chapter of Luke’s Gospel, we read about Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane and His agonizing prayer. Part of that prayer was this:
“Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” ~Jesus
Have you ever prayed a prayer like this one? This prayer clearly demonstrates that Jesus had His own will, but He wanted His Father’s will over His own.
You and I also have our own will. We have a way that we want things to happen in our lives and in the lives of those we love. The question is:
Which do we want more: our own will, or God’s will?
You don’t have to answer that question to anyone but yourself, but the answer for most people is this:
It depends on the circumstances.
What if I told you that God has a will for your life, and that will is wonderful? But let me be clear, His will may involve a few rough patches; it may not always go smoothly; it may not always line up with your own will for your life. Would you still want His will over yours?
Starting Sunday November 2, 2025, we’re going to spend a few weeks in God’s Word learning about God’s will: about how to find it, how to follow it, what to do when God is silent and even more. I hope you’ll join us every week, in person or online, to learn about His plan for our lives.
I hope you will join us at 9 am or 10:30 am, in person or online.
