2024 – This Is Your Year!

Happy New Year!!!

I hope your launch into 2024 was great. And whether you made any New Year’s Resolutions or not, I’m going to start the year off with a couple of challenges for you.

First, I’m going to pick up where I left off last week and challenge you to pick up your Bible and read it this year. Me? My plan is to read through the entire Bible again. I’m 3 days in. What’s your plan? (I’ll put a link to my plan below.) If the entire Bible sounds ambitious, decide to read through the New Testament. If that sounds too daunting, choose to read a chapter a day, and if your day is so packed full that you can’t find that much time, buy a calendar that has a verse a day on it.

However you do it, do it. You will NEVER regret reading your Bible. Find a translation that is easy to read, figure out a time that works for you, have a plan and do it! You can read your physical Bible, read it online or use the YouVersion app on your electronic device. Just don’t short change your spiritual life by not doing it.

Second, invite someone to church. For many of you, at some point, someone invited you……..right? So extend the same favor to someone else. And don’t just say, “Hey, come to LifePoint Sunday at 9……” Instead, make it personal. Make it matter. Make it relational. “I’d love for you to come to church and sit with me on Sunday.” Don’t forget the “…..and sit with me” part.

It’s intimidating to walk into a new church for the first time, not knowing what to expect. If you’ve ever been on vacation in a new city and gone to church, you know exactly what I’m talking about. Offer to pick them up. Offer to buy their lunch. Assure them that they don’t have to wear a jacket and tie or genuine leather shoes. You know that jeans and a t-shirt are just fine, but they might not.

I am inviting you to make 2024 the year that you get closer to God by spending more time with Him, and to make 2024 the year that one of your family members or friends connects with God and with church. 

Maybe all of that sounds a bit intimidating to you, but if you’ll take up the challenge, I can assure you that you will experience some of the most rewarding and fulfilling moments of the year.

2024, here we come!!!
